Transportation of Hazardous Materials: DOT Manifest Certification |
|
The generator requirements are very strict and explicit about how long waste can
be accumulated on-site; at some point it will have to be shipped off-site (unless
it has been treated and rendered non-hazardous). The Department of Transportation
Regulations require training and certification for any hazardous material employee
whose duties impact transportation safety. By definition, this requirement extends
to anyone who prepares or simply signs a hazardous waste manifest. This section
of the course covers the General Awareness, Function Specific, Safety, and Security
training requirements applicable to waste manifesting (depending upon one’s
duties, additional job-specific DOT training may be required).
A comprehensive manifest certification exam is offered at the end of the day. This
training and certification must be updated every three years. |

underground and aboveground storage tanks and how report leaks.
"Will your underground tank systems pass inspection? Under the 2005 Energy
Bill, every state must prove to the USEPA that every tank system has been inspected
since December 1998. States are now getting the regulations and funding together
to do a "Inspection Blitz" before August 2007. Some states, like New York,
Connecticut and Maryland have already started.
Learn what you can do to get your tanks in compliance before the State catches up
with you. If you are considering switching to aboveground tanks, this workshop will
also give you the basics on design, installation, operations, and maintenance". |

Incident Command System (ICS) Workshops |
|
These workshops are designed for those responsible for there facilities spill response
program and to raise the level of understanding and its application during emergencies.
The Incident Command System (ICS) is an efficient, flexible, and standardized response
management system. It is an 'all hazard - all risk' approach to managing crisis
response operations such as chemical spills, fire, floods, earthquake, as well as
non-crisis events like concerts or any planned event.
Although the ICS was originally developed to address concerns of multi-agency incidents,
it applies to any response situation both large and small incidents. This system
allows for sharing of resources effectively whether the resource comes from the
responsible organization, the community or local & national agencies. Learning
and understanding the concepts and principles of ICS provides for a logical and
smooth organizational expansion and contraction depending on the scope of the incident.
When planned for and practiced, the ICS provides for an increased support of personnel
during incidents.
